Planctonid obtains the prize for best European Start-Up for the preservation of water and air at the COP 25 Start-Up Europe Awards Posted on 2019-12-19 | Planctonid obtains the prize for best European Start-Up for the preservation of water and air at the COP 25 Start-Up Europe Awards The start-up Planctonid presented for the competition a project dedicated to the protection of the oceans, the cleaning of industrial water and the capture of CO2 emissions, including the production of large-scale biomass, based on microalgae and in using innovative and market-leading technology. Planctonid is a game-changing biotechnology company. Thanks to its patented technology, Planctonid cleans wastewater, fights against global warming by capturing a lot of Co2 (one hectare of Planctonid photobioreactors is equivalent to more than 100 hectares of forest) and produces high-quality microalgal biomass at industrial scale.
Depending on the type of microalgae cultivated, the dry biomass is rich in proteins, carbohydrates and high density lipoproteins. Microalgae biomass has the potential to be used as food and feed, organic fertilizer, raw material for the production of biofuel, pharmaceuticals or nutraceuticals and other value-added bio-based products.
